I grew up on motorcycles, climbing walls and rolling down hills in Arizona. I was constantly making things and teaching myself how to make various crafts.
I have always admired Anne Geddes, always. Her calendars and posters hung on my dorm room walls. I’d been bitten by the shutter bug early on. A camera was a usual birthday gift, as I’d worn my previous one out in a clean 12 month period. The dSLR always seemed big and scary, but once you have a child of your own, you see the value in quality images. I didn’t want a lot of pictures of my son, I wanted stunning pictures of my son.
My husband was sweet enough to purchase my first beginner dSLR for Christmas of 2013. I shed the fear of the unknown, set it to Manual mode and started taking pictures. LOTS of pictures. Blurry pictures, over exposed pictures and a few keepers. I easily took 30,000 pictures that first year. Imagine the joy of my Facebook friends!
As I gained experience and control over my camera, I began to dial in the ability to capture the soul and personality of who I was shooting. Sure, capturing a nice image of someone smiling can make a nice photograph on your wall, but how do I really capture WHO the person really is. Especially when my subject can’t speak! There is something special in everyone. A spark that makes us all unique and valuable in a beautiful way. I strive to capture that spark at each and every shoot.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show you just how amazing you really are.
