I’d imagine there was plenty you prepared for your newborn before their arrival. The same is true for your newborn’s time spent here at the studio. A few preparations will make your bundle of joy’s time spent being photographed more enjoyable and productive.
Here are a few items to consider prior to your newborn session:
– The studio will be kept around 80 to 82 degrees to help Baby feel like they’re still inside the womb. This will keep them calm and make posing more comfortable. It’ll be warm, so you’ll want to dress accordingly, think layers.
– Baby will be happiest and in the deepest sleep with a full tummy. I can provide a private place for breast feeding if needed. If baby can be fed just prior to arriving at the studio, we’ll have the best chance of deep sleep and cooperation. Formula will keep tummy full and happy more than breast milk, if this is an option.
– Loosening Baby’s diaper prior to leaving the house will allow the crease lines to relax on their skin.
– Dress Baby in a button/snap/zippered down outfit for their trip to the studio. We want to avoid pulling any clothing over the head prior to our session start.
– Baby is likely to be asleep during your drive to the studio, please leave them in their car seat until we are ready to shoot. Less disruptions equals a happier baby.
– If Baby takes a pacifier, please bring it.
-If Baby is nursing, they will be handed back to mom at scheduled intervals or when they show signs of rooting or hunger. Also, if Baby is formula fed, please bring additional formula for feedings during the session.
